Fourth/Fifth Grade Title 1 ELA Classes

Welcome to Wilson School's Title 1 classroom. Students who are enrolled in either the fourth or fifth grade title 1 ELA class are struggling  in reading and/or writing.  Students are pulled out of their regular classroom for 1 period per day.  During that period, students are taught reading, spelling, and writing.  The fourth and fifth grade title one classes are small (24 students) and are team taught by two teachers.   It is our goal to help students gain and strengthen skills so that they may return to the regular classroom setting for language arts instruction.

              Schedule

              8:45-10:20 Fourth Grade ELA Class
              10:20-10:40 Fourth/Fifth Grade Recess
              10:40-11:55 Fifth Grade ELA Class

              Expectations

              1.  Students are expected to come to class prepared to learn and succeed.
-Homework will be turned in on time.  Late homework earns 1/2 credit.
-Students will bring their pencil, student planner, and current AR book to class.

              2.  Students will participate actively in class every day.
-Remember, school is the job you do today to prepare for your job in the future.

              3.  Daily assignments will be completed carefully, thoroughly, and on time.
-While we understand that for many of our students reading and writing is
difficult, it is not an excuse to not complete assigned work (including
nightly reading homework.)  The more a child reads and writes, the more
more successful he or she will be in school and in life. A child that doesn't
practice reading, will not become a more fluent and advanced reader.

              4.  Students will follow all school and class rules.

              5.  Students will respect themselves, their classmates, and teacher.
