Educational games are a great way to motivate students to be active participants in their own learning.  Educational games are used in the classroom to reinforce skills and to teach grade level standards in a fun and engaging manner.  The games also support vocabulary and language development among language learners. Games provide language practice in the various skills:  speaking, writing, listening, and reading.

It is not possible to send home games used in the classroom, so we have gathered links to online educational games that may be used at home.  The literacy games pages are organized by skill and the games range in levels of difficulty.  While most games are k-3, fourth and fifth grade students will find the games helpful to improve specific skills in which they are struggling.  Some of the games have levels of difficulty or are labled for older grades. Most of the games are also appropriate for students learning English.
